Our very own Kristy Grob will be reading a paper on Beauvoir's use of rhetoric in "The Second Sex."
From
the English Department, Donovan Braud plans to give a talk on the theme
of 19th century rhetoric and women's admission to higher education.
From
Plato's rhetorically expert condemnation of rhetoric to postmodern
questioning of that initial condemnation, philosophy has had a long
history of wrestling with rhetoric. Come and hear what some of your
peers have to say this time around, and enliven the conversation. No
special expertise required; appropriate tongue-looseners (i.e., beer)
will be provided.
