How do I request funding for a conference?
AGSP gives out limited funding for graduate students to take part in conferences or colloquia. This document explains how you can take advantage of this.
AGSP has limited (an usually low) funding. We use a significant portion of this funding to help AGSP members (i.e. philosophy graduate students) attend conferences in which they are either giving a paper or moderating.
But before you apply for AGSP funding, keep these things in mind:
- The Graduate School gives out funding on a first-come, first-serve basis. They give around $300 for a conference (more than AGSP gives). You can only get a travel stipend from the Graduate School once per year, and you must notify them in advance. However, the process is simple. Travel Request forms are available here.
- AGSP only gives money to those who are presenting, commenting or moderating. Merely attending is not enough. (The same is true of the Graduate School.)
- Since AGSP runs on a first-come, first-serve basis, if you plan on getting AGSP funding, you should apply for funding well in advance. If you apply afterward, AGSP may not have any money to grant.
